Each movie is unique since it carries a story. Sometimes, music shapes the story even better than images do. Sometimes we cannot even imagine movies without songs, because they come together and are strongly interdependent.
Of course, we cannot say which really are the best soundtracks in movie history, because everyone has his or her own taste. But we have tried to choose some soundtracks from different styles of music.
Besides being a great movie, “Once” has great songs played by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová. The best-known songs are “Falling Slowly” and “When Your Mind’s Made Up”. These songs have won major industry awards and became hits. People, including yours truly, still listen to these, since Glen Hansard has a great voice and an incredible style of singing.
Forrest Gump (1994)
“Forrest Gump” is an American epic romantic-comedy-drama movie that was based on the novel written by Winston Groom. Some of the songs that show up in the movie are considered undying hits today. Some of them are “Hound Dog”, “On the Road Again” and “California Dreamin’”.
Like Crazy (2011)
Most of the songs in this movie are instrumental and belong to Dustin O’Halloran who is a great composer. His creations have great depth and express a lot of feelings. O’Halloran’s songs have affected the movie so much, that if it was played on mute it would send a totally different message.
What we like most about this movie is that it perfectly combines instrumental music with other styles. It has songs by M83, Stars, Paul Simon or The Radio Depot.
Dirty Dancing (1987)
This is one of the most famous movies about dance and music. There is a high possibility that almost 90% of the people in the whole world have watched it or heard about this film at least once in their life.
This movie’s songs remained in our hearts as great pieces of art. Some of the best-known songs from the movie are “Hungry Eyes” and “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life”, which are hits in the album of Medley and Jennifer Warnes. The album with the same name, “Dirty Dancing” sold over 11 million copies back then.
Even the fact that Christina Aguilera herself plays the main part in this movie says a lot about the soundtrack. Maybe she is not everyone’s favorite artist, but we cannot deny that her voice is amazing. More than that, Cher, whose voice is incomparable, also has an important role in the movie.
Together, Christina Aguilera and Cher made the soundtrack for “Burlesque”, one of the most awesome track lists in movie history.
